If it is not possible to go to the office, how can we solve the problems related to orthodontic appliances?

1- Food is left between my teeth
The food can be removed with a piece of dental floss and passing it through the gingival part of the wire and entering the interdental space.
2- Removing the rubber rings holding the wire in the bracket
It is not necessary to rush to meet with an orthodontist unless the number of fallen pieces is large and it affects the placement of the wire in the right place.
3- The patient feels discomfort at the beginning of placing the brackets in the mouth
Reassure the patient that this is a transient phase and will pass with a little patience. Recommend a soft diet for the first two or three days and take time to maintain good oral hygiene.
4- Feeling of protrusion of brackets and possibly their sharpness
In the first day or two, the equipment is new, and of course, the amount of saliva secretion and consistency play a role in how the equipment feels. In the early morning, due to the lack of saliva, the brackets cause more problems. You can also use the soft type of wax that is in the office and given to the patient.
5- Extra wire at the end of orthodontic appliances
New orthodontic alloys are so soft that they can pass through the misaligned teeth and become twisted between the misaligned teeth, which gradually and as the teeth become more orderly, this extra part of the wire will be felt at the end of the equipment. This extra wire must be cut by office personnel. Sometimes in more advanced stages of treatment, extra wire is seen at the end of the device, which is sometimes due to the movement of the wire (primary wires that are more flexible and not stainless steel wire, which is the main wire in orthodontics.) In many cases, this situation Can be corrected by the patient in front of the mirror.
6- What should be done if the bracket separates from the tooth surface, which is called a broken bracket?
This condition can be delayed until the next appointment at the office and usually does not pose a risk unless it is in the case of anterior teeth, which may lead to tooth rotation and increase the length of treatment. In this case, it is recommended to consider a new appointment in coordination with the office. If the bracket is rotated around the wire, it can be returned to its original position.
Note: If the end teeth also use the devices that are attached to the tooth, and now separated from the tooth, immediately in front of the mirror and with the help of his hand, move the metal piece back in the wire and remove it from the wire.
