Advantages:
Moves the front teeth back to be less prone to possible impacts
In some cases, older people will not need further treatment.
Uses the maximum ability of the child to grow.
Uses good patient cooperation.
Disadvantages:
If the second phase of treatment is needed, the total duration of treatment may be longer (compared to when all treatments were done at an older age, and this is if all of this could be done at an older age at all).
Phase 1: The duration of treatment is 15-15 months
Brackets: They are placed permanently on the anterior teeth and sometimes in the mandible.
Removable plaque: Used to perform some dental movements.
Functional device: It is a moving device that puts the mandible in its correct position.
Important Note: It should be placed in the mouth for 11-14 months.
Phase II: Treatment usually lasts 12-24 months.
During the first phase of treatment, we have no control over 16 teeth. If the problem persists after they grow, treatment should be started again.
Complete treatment (lasts 20 to 30 months)
Treatments are usually postponed until the age of 12-13, when all permanent teeth have erupted.
